Horrifying Assault Uncovered Chinese Mental Asylum

In summer 2004, 40 year old Langyin Liu presented a petition to the central headquarters of the Chinese Communist party in Beijing. That was the first time Ms Liu has presented a petition. She lingered outside the State council for a while and saw the police leading protesters away. She thought that they were being taken to the council to discuss their concerns. So she told the police that she was also there for the petition. However the officers detained her and forced into a police car.

Upon arriving at the police station, she discovered that the police were ‘resolving’ protests by detaining protesters. They did not address the concerns of petitioners. Their opinions were disregarded and Ms Liu was sent to the asylum in the Changping district.

Strangely, Ms Liu did not see any medical staff during her time in the asylum. Rather than mentally ill patients, the asylum detained protesters and Falun Gong^[1] practitioners. The ‘staff’ were police officers and torturers. They used belts and whipped those who did not cooperate. Ms Liu was detained for a total of 3 days.

During Liu’s detainment, 3 guards engaged in a horrifying routine each night. They were known as “The large headed”, “The long haired” and “The mute” who had trouble speaking normally. They entered Liu’s ward to rape a 9-year-old girl, respectively, in the order listed. The girl would let out bloodcurdling screams each night. The next morning, she would be motionless on her bed where she defecated and urinated.

 From the other prisoners, Ms Liu learnt that the girl was an orphan whose parents were Falun Gong practitioners. They were initially brought in as a family of three. After her parents were tortured to death in the Changping asylum, the authorities had the responsibility to send her to an orphanage. Yet they retained her for such torturous routine daily.

There was no one who dared to speak up in the hell-like ward. There was another young woman in Liu’s ward, who has been rendered insane by the physical torture. She was also repeatedly raped, and had became pregnant as a result.

One night, Liu witnessed the three guards raping this young woman after raping the 9-year-old child. The young woman screamed and tried to defend herself. “The large headed” guard tied her limbs and reached up into her skirt. Ms Liu then saw blood trickling down her legs. Despite being in her forties, Ms Liu was frightened to the point where she began shaking. Liu experienced such horrors each night until daybreak.

She said, “When our families search for us and begin asking questions, as protesters we will generally be released. But those Falun Gong practitioners will continue to be detained, tortured or sexually assaulted.”

“The media has a responsibility to expose these realities. This will show us who is truly evil. ^[2]The Chinese Communist party is the most evil cult to date. The cruelty and ruthlessness of their forceful control is unprecedented.” says Liu. “Jiang Zemin [the man who ordered the crackdown of Falun Gong] has no humanity. There are even cases that are worse than those mentioned above. “

[1] Falun Gong consists of gentle meditation exercises and teaches the principles truthfulness, compassion, forbearance. It has spread to many countries since originating in China.

[2] Falun Gong is claimed to be an evil cult by the Chinese communist party, who has persecuted Falun Gong practitioners since 1999 by sending them to torture and detention centres. This began in 1999 when the numbers practicing Falun Gong has reached 100 million in China, which far exceeded the number of members in the Chinese communist party.
